The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded USD7.51 billion trade surplus from January until December 2015. Exports in 2015 reached USD150.25 billion while imports reached USD142.74 billion.
"If compared with four years ago, 2015 recorded the highest surplus," mentioned the Head of BPS, Suryamin, in his Office, Jakarta, Friday (1/15/2016).
Suryamin mentioned that Indonesia recorded trade deficit in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
However, in the month of December 2015, BPS recorded USD235.8 million deficit compared to the previous month.
"The decline was due to prices. On Volume, exports and imports were equal," he mentioned.
Last month, non-oil and gas sector had USD262.7 million surplus while oil and gas sector experienced USD498.5 million deficit.
Annually, non-oil and gas had USD13.57 billion surplus while oil and gas sector suffered USD6.06 surplus.
