E-commerce Start-up Companies have positive impacts on Industry.
Presence of e-commerce start-up companies in Indonesia has given positive impacts to the industrial sector. One of the impacts is that start-up companies can connect small industrial players to potential buyers.
“Start-up companies can give rise to new business units or entrepreneurs,” said HarisMunandar, head of the Industrial Research and Development Agency on Sunday, October 18.
Haris gave example on small medium enterprises that can sell their products through e-commerce. These industrial players can easily find potential buyers through e-commerce app. There is also online ojek that makes it easier for passenger to meet with ojek driver.
“This has many positive effects on the industry because it can absorb workers,” said Haris.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has cast doubt on e-commerce companies for fear of bubble economic growth vehicle. Kadin’s permanent committee on increased use of domestic production HanditoJoewono said e-commerce manipulates company’s economic growth and is not focused on trade. He further said that this kind of e-commerce only is only concerned on developing its company and then resell it.
Haris said the concern in e-commerce owners enlarge their companies only to sell them later is no problem because people will learn all aspects before buying a company.
However, as intermediaries, start-up companies only sell services that do not produce goods. Because of that, from the industrial side, start-up companies are not under the Industry Ministry and have no industrial permit. As companies that provide trading services, they sould be under the Trade Ministry so that they have trading permit.
Haris said the presence of start-up companies in Indonesia still raises questions. Some of the questions are related to income taxes, NPWP ownership, trading permit and consumer protection aspects.
