8th EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue
Jakarta, 25 October 2018 - The 8th EU-Indonesia Business Dialogue (EIBD) took place at the Ayana Midplaza in Jakarta. The topic of this year's EIBD was 'Circular Economy: Maximizing Business through Sustainable Practices'.
The Circular Economy is all about minimising waste. By using policies and changing business models, gas emissions, waste production and energy loss can be minimised. When applied well, Circular Economy concepts can make businesses more sustainable, better to the world and finally, more profitable.
In order to make the audience realise this potential, and also to show them the potential with tangible examples from businesses like Danone, H&M and Waste4Change, some of the speakers at EIBD were the following:
- Pak Karmenu Vella, European commissioner of Environment, Maritime Affiars and Fisheries
- Ibu Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia
- Ibu Corine Tap, President Director of Danone AQUA
- Pak Wichard von Harrach, President Director of Jawa Power
Not only through speeches by various experts on the subject, but also by workshops and information sessions, the Circular Economy principle was discussed extensively in order to make all attendents realise what the Circular Economy could bring them personally.
For the first time, EIBD adddionally organised a Youth EIBD. During this event, that took place in the morning before EIBD, some 200 young people attended their own, youth-organised EIBD.
