On occasion of the Trade Expo 2014, held in the Jakarta Convention Center from 8 to 10 October, EIBN had the chance to present the Network to a number of official representatives from Indonesian provinces.
This year’s edition of Trade Expo was considered successful by the organization, attracting close to 9000 buyers from over 100 countries. EIBN project officers attended one of the activities of the event, the Trade and Investment Forum (9 October). The session was co-organized by the EU Desk (coordinated by EU-Indonesia Trade Cooperation Facility) and the hosting Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
For this session, the chairman of BKPM Mr. Mahendra Siregar was joined at the panel by three Ministers: Mr. Muhammad Lufti (Trade), Mrs. Mari E. Pangestu (Tourism) and Mr. Mohamad S. Hidayat (Industry). The discussion approached new ideas on how to encourage foreign companies to expand their operations throughout the Archipelago.
During the Expo, EIBN had the chance to meet with several officials representing 7 promising Indonesian Provinces. In these meetings, EIBN representatives learned about the resources and the infrastructure facilities which are available for European investors and future partnership possibilities. The meetings included representatives of the provinces of Riau, Riau Islands, East Nusa Tenggara, Bali, West Java, East Kalimantan and South Sumatra.
